Frequently asked questions
General
Curtis Inglis builds both Retrotec and Inglis bicycles. Retrotec bikes are classic cruiser, curved-tube designs with modern geometry. Inglis bikes are traditional straight-tube bikes made in small quantities and to custom specifications.
Custom bikes are built from scratch with geometry, tubes, and features that are tailored to your preferences and fit.
Production bikes are standard models in set sizes with a slightly faster turnaround and preset options — they don’t get custom geometry but still come from the same builder at a more attractive price
This depends on the product:
Custom frame/bikes include single color paint of your choice, external cable routing, and water bottle mounts. Any additional options will incur additional charges.
Production frame/bikes include single color paint of your choice, external cable routing, UDH dropouts. No additional customization is allowed.
For Custom orders, no worries! Curtis will reach out via email after a deposit is paid to go over all geometry and fit details.
For Production orders, take a look at the size guide on each product page to find rider height estimations. Feel free to reach out with more specific questions/concerns.
If you would like to request a custom order that is not displayed on the website, please reach out to info@ingliscycles.com to discuss options. Special requests may be accommodated depending on the request and current queue length.
Not necessarily. If you are ready - go ahead and submit your order online. Curtis will reach out via email to begin the build process.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out before submitting an online order!
Payment
No. All custom and production orders begin with an online transaction (non-refundable deposit for Custom, frame cost for Production). To acquire a full bike, you will need to complete your online transaction, and specify your build preferences with Curtis when he follows up via email.
NO. All order deposits are non-refundable. Order deposits secure your position in the queue and allow for Curtis to plan for material orders and scheduling.
After we have finalized all details for your custom order, the total cost of the order will be calculated minus the deposit, and divided into two payments; the first to begin production, and the second to deliver the final frame/bike.
Curtis will send an invoice for each, to be paid by check, Venmo or cash.
Orders may be cancelled, but the non-refundable deposit will not be returned.
Build
Yes, we prefer to sell you a complete build and will work with you on creating the bike of your dreams.
That frame is built around the Enve gravel fork so the bike front and rear can take up to 2.2 inches.
It will be the 29X2.6.
For years we built production sized mountain and road bikes but when custom orders really took off, we stopped offering them. Fast forward to present, and we wanted to offer them again to help customers get out on the trails a little faster.

All builds are a little different. Depending on the complexity of your preferences, a build can take anywhere from 12-14 weeks from production invoice to delivery. This is subject to change.
Production does NOT begin when you pay a deposit. Production will only start after all options have been confirmed, total cost has been calculated, and the production invoice has been paid.
